CAFES
Seven Seeds
Every day, in the back lots of Melbourne and Columbia, Mark Dundon is working to bring us closer to the perfect coffee. It didn’t seem possible to increase this city’s espresso obsession until Mark opened Brother Baba Budan – the cafe where you can choose between single origin grinds for your takeaway. What next? Are we gonna start growing our own beans?! Um, yes. Mark opens Seven Seeds – an inner-city coffee plantation and roastery – on 1 June. Completely sustainable, this place will get you wired… in the most organic way.

ARTS
Tobias Frere-Jones
One day, typography deity Tobias Frere-Jones was walking up 8th Avenue from 42nd Street when he noticed a sign. It said ‘Port Authority Bus Terminal‘. And at that moment, ‘Gotham’ was born. From its humble beginnings, this typeface went on to star in Obama’s campaign posters. But the story does not end there. Now obsessed with New York’s signage, Frere-Jones walks the streets photographing signs for his typographic city map. And he’s bringing Melbourne a preview – check out his exhibition at The Narrows until 6 June. The PABT on Flinders Lane.
